Welcome to Field Noise Episode 002. This go around Dustin showcases a device he made that essentially boils down to a small cardioid microphone implanted into a plastic tube intended to strike the drums (or anything, really). Along with that we have two large amplifiers bookending his drums while Dan is playing a guitar through them and dustin uses his “mic sabres” to strike the drums, pick up the sounds of the amps as well as the cymbals. Brady is modulating the pedals that the drums are running through. In the mix is the Old Blood Noise Endeavors Black Fountain, Haunt, Reflector, and Procession, EHX Pog 2 and Bass Micro Synth. All of the sounds and performances were improvised. this was take 1 of 3. An enormous thank you to our friend Mike Trepagnier for having us out to his new space which he is now converting into a glorious studio space. Can’t wait to go back when the dream has been realized.
*A note: Kilyn Massey, not Blake Studdard, was one of the three camera operators on this shoot. The titles at the end of the second act are incorrect about that.
