Supro USA President David Koltai delves into the nitty-gritty details of the latest introduction to a long legacy of historic guitars—the Supro 1525 Dual-Tone guitar.
The Dual-Tone is a reproduction of the two-pickup, fiberglass Supro electric guitar that was manufactured in the early 1960s, with a modern twist. With a chambered mahogany back and a newly developed, composite “Acousti-glass” top, along with vintage-style appointments and hardware, this updated construction preserves the instrument’s Art Deco aesthetics and timeless sound while improving its semi-hollow acoustic resonance and tuning stability. Plus, this instrument dutifully replicates the sound of old-school Supro with the help of an authentically voiced, highly coveted Vistatone pickup seen in the guitars of yesteryear.
