Mahogany is one of the classic woods used in instrument making. Since more than 50years, instrument makers have sworn by the classic material. In the past, HondurasMahogany (botan.: Swietenia macrophylla) originating from South America was widelyused. Today, there is hardly anything remaining of those earlier tree populations, whichis why Honduras mahogany has been on the Red List of endangered species for quitesome time.
With African mahogany (botan.: Khaya ivorensis), we succeeded in arriving at a comparable alternative for a sustainable future.
