This piece of pink paisley perfection took me to a purple, hazy place! With that piece of introductory alliteration out of the way, let's talk about how this serial presents an fresh semi-hollow take on classic (dare I say Hendrixian?) Stratocaster sounds! This serial's main trick is to provide a solid foundation for the brilliant, airy trebles that are the hallmark of Thinline Straotcasters. No matter what position you're in, this serial gives you a smoky, sizzling high end that drips with overtones; essentially, it's the sonic equivalent of the smell that greets your nose when you walk into your favorite barbeque joint! The five-way switch essentially selects which part of the frequency spectrum acts as a foundation for these sweet, hazy highs. The neck pickup emphasizes deep, beefy lows, the middle pickup has more of a thumping low-midrange response, and the bridge pickup has punchy mids and tight bass response. This guitar also has a fantastic capacity for raunchiness when you play hard, and the juxtaposition of this nasty, snarling attack with the sweeter-than-BBQ-sauce sustain is really what makes it special. The front end of the note demands that you play with earthy, elemental force, while the sustain begs you to play with soul and finesse. These two conflicting desires made me play much cooler stuff than I normally do! Ordinarily, I keep a tally of how many riffs I come up with while playing guitars I find particularly inspiring, but that metric doesn't really work for this serial because my whole session was one uninterrupted string of new licks! Anyone that finds inspiration in purple, hazy tones will find a lifelong musical companion in this serial!
