Mesa Artist Dustie Waring from Between the Buried and Me got a chance to check out one of the first production model JP-2C heads while on a tour date in San Francisco, March 21st, 2016.
In this video, we focus on the Ch. 1 for both clean and also the clipped potential of Ch. 1 while using the Mid control to increase gain when the control is set above halfway. Dustie loved the pristine, big headroom nature of the JP-2C and made the gain sing and crunch with neck and bridge position pickups with the channel pushed into clip. We also cranked up the reverb for you to hear the lush, tube driven reverb as well as briefly comparing the 60 watt setting versus the 100 watt setting.
Recorded with Dustie’s Signature PRS 24 with Signature Seymour Duncan pickups and the JP-2C head into a 2x12 Rectifier Compact with Celestion Vintage 30s and Jim Dunlop Carbon Copy Bright in the FX Loop. Recorded with a Shure KSM 313 and the CabClone set to Open Back. Blended 45% KSM, 45% CabClone and 10% room mic.
Our thanks to Dustie for taking the time on a show day to shred some riffs!
