Houston, we have a problem... In this video, we will repair a super cool Mid-Century, Atomic Space Age counter top 1973 RCA Model AR059Y combination flip clock, AM/FM radio, and TV straight out of 2001 A Space Odyssey or The Jetsens. We'll repair the flip clock and check out the BIZARRE socketed solid state TV electronics. Climb aboard our rocket ship, strap up, and get ready to go...INTO OUTER SPACE!!! See you on the Moon Base.
This unit uses a Copal GG-1617 motor which will almost certainly require cleaning and re-lube if you have a unit with one of these in it. Copal apparently made many different motors for flip clocks such as this, not just RCA.
After publishing this video, I found out this is one of at least THREE known TV models Elvis shot out because of the appearance of Robert Goulet. Here is a listing for an auction of the one just like this Elvis shot and gave to Charlie Hodge:

This is Elvis Presley's miniature RCA TV and radio clock that he gave to his close friend, army buddy and stage director Charlie Hodge. Elvis gave the TV to Charlie one night when Elvis came into Charlie's room at Graceland when he was watching the Johnny Carson show with Robert Goulet performing. Elvis watched about 30 seconds of the performance before pulling out his gun and shooting a hole through the screen, with the bullet exiting out the top. Apparently Elvis had a habit of shooting out any TV screen when the mood struck him if he didn't like a particular show or TV ad! Elvis was laughing quite hard and asked Charlie for a pen. Elvis then proceeded to write on top of the TV, "F--K ROBERT GOULET IF HE CAN'T TAKE A JOKE E.P." in blue ink. He then said to Charlie, "Hell Charlie go sell it it's worth more now anyway!" Measures 13.25 x 9 x 7. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Charlie Hodge. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
And here's one he shot out and inscribed to Vester Presley. Apparently Graceland had several of this same model TV in the guest rooms throughout the house and Elvis just took to shooting them one by one. :D

Condition as expected, with a bullet hole and residual loose plastic pieces on the left screen. A larger piece of plastic appears to have been glued back into place near the RCA logo. Inscribed on the top by in pen, " To Lester, Next time open the gate faster! RCA will buy you another one! E.P." CONDITION REPORT SALEROOM NOTICE PROVENANCE Vester Presley (with accompanying letter attesting to its authenticity) EXHIBITED LITERATURE CATALOGUE NOTE "Next time open the gate faster!" Elvis was notoriously trigger happy, and there are numerous anecdotes that have emerged over the years regarding his antics, specifically as they pertain to his longstanding hatred of singer Robert Goulet. The bad blood between the two singers has never been fully explained -- some say it stemmed from a fight over Anita Wood, while others c laim Elvis merely didn't like the way he sang. What we do know is that Elvis purportedly developed a habit of shooting out TVs whenever he saw Goulet singing.Beyond his hatred of the Camelot singer, Presley had a habit of taking his frustrations out on appliances large and small -- he even once shot a car when it wouldn't start. This mini RCA TV was gifted to his uncle Vester Presley (brother of Vernon), who was employed at Graceland as a security guard at the front gate. According to Vester:"RCA provided Elvis with many TVs at Graceland. I had a small one Elvis gave me to watch in the gatehouse. If Elvis didn't have his gate opener and you didn't open the gates fast enough he could lose his patience sometimes. One time I had strayed away from the gate to visit with a fan. Elvis pulled up and I didn't get the gate open fast enough to his liking. Once Elvis pulled into the driveway he came down and saw the TV on and thought I had been watching a show instead of w atching for him. He pulled his gun out and shot my TV. He laughed and I laughed. The next day I took it into Graceland and put it on the kitchen counter. Elvis saw it and signed the top of it to me."
