In the early 80's I spent a few years working at Allans Music (Melbourne, Australia), in the Print Music department. Part of my role was being one of the 'special order' guys who sought out exotic or unusual score requests for full and chamber orchestras, opera companies and the like. I loved it. Hi Gina! It instilled in me a deep and awe-inspired love for the classical composers; particularly Richard Strauss, Mahler, late Beethoven and anyone else who conjured up big and mystic washes of sound and symphony. Later on this love of the huge, dark, melodic and ambient would manifest itself in things like this. I don't have an orchestra or any sort of prodigious composing talent at my disposal. I can hardly even read music! But I do have a couple of 7-strings and an Axe-FX. They let me pretend and make a fair sized noise. And that's fun too.
