I prepared this video today after driving around Austin doing my errands.
Our current mayor Steve Adler recently took a tax payer funded trip to LA and San Fran to see how THEY deal with their homeless issue. He came home and he and the City passed and ordinance allowing the homeless population to camp wherever they see fit on public property with the exception of course being CITY HALL.
Steve lives at the residences at the W Hotel so he has a kings eye view of the mess he has made of our downtown and of the rest of the public areas in Austin. Assaults are on the rise, we now get to dodge needles and human waste like his pals in California do, and tourists are frightened.
Now...
The City Council are fine with big development. They are fine with rampant homelessness. They TAX THE HELL out of the people of Austin but claim to not have the money or the solution to this growing problem.
It's time to put partisan politics aside and remove Adler from office. We need to take back our city.
With all the cash they take from us each year in property taxes alone they should be able to come up with a better solution for this and they haven't.
The governor of Texas has had to step in and threaten action against the Adler's policies if he doesn't come up with a solution by November 1st.
I moved here in 1982. YES it was laid back. Yes there were some homeless people. You know what though, right wing or left wing the city fathers cared about keeping Austin clean, and keeping people safe MORE than they cared about money and development.
Adler and team are bunch of carpetbaggers that need to step aside and let people who care about our city take control.
