MESA/Boogie Bass Strategy 8:88 -- Latin Fingerstyle
http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Bass_Amps/strategy/bassStrategy.html
This riff benefits from the slight scoop in the midrange to emphasize tight, fingerstyle punch coupled with a slight high end boost that works well to add detail to the notes without being too bright or cutting. The 9-Band Graphic EQ is ON to further refine the punch and detail with a classic "V" scoop centered on the all-important 600hz slider. While any of the sliders of the Graphic EQ can be extremely powerful tone-shaping tools, the 600hz slider is a very important frequency and range to add tightness and control in the low-end or to deliver the quick and gritty forgiveness for heavier-handed attack when scooped below it's mid line.
Recorded with an Audix D6 in front, a Sennheiser 421 on the back of the cab, and the POST D.I. of the Bass Strategy 8:88
