The Singlecut 594 was created after the massive popularity of the double cut McCarty 594 model.
The McCarty 594 Singlecut has a thicker body than a normal Singlecut and also features the Vintage Modern neck. This is a new neck shape for PRS and is an asymmetrical neck shape with the nut width of their pattern regular neck. It's slightly chunkier towards where you'd normally rest your thumb and tapered where you fingers grip the neck. This improves playing comfort and hand movement, but still allows your fingers to grip the neck in a natural way.
he original PRS McCarty launched in 1994 as a guitar that took inspiration from the legendary Ted McCarty who built some of the world's most iconic guitars in the 50's and 60's. He served as a mentor for Paul Reed Smith and helped form some of the great guitars we know them today.
The big change to the neck comes in the scale length. Previous McCarty models used a 25" or 24.5" scale length. This one is a little bit different at 24.594" which increases string tension ever so slightly over the 24.5" version but still with that 50's single cut kind of response.
58/15 pickups
PRS's 58/15 pickups are a great choice for guitarists who want all of that classic PAF tone but with a bit of extra heat to help it cut through more in lead sections. In this guitar you have a pair of the new LT modified versions which have fewer turns meaning a lower output level better suited to clean and mid gain blues and rock styles.
