This Lake Placid Blue beauty is one of the richest-sounding Duo Jets I've ever played. All up and down the neck, overtones bloom after the initial attack and surround you with thick, juicy harmonic content. This sophisticated resonance contrasts nicely with the raunchy, growling attack--it sort of sounds like a guy in a three thousand dollar suit menacing you with a switchblade. Sophisticated yet dangerous! The neck pickup has some seriously deep bass, but it has enough upper-midrange presence to cut through the mix and a transparent high-end that allows it to remain clear. In the bridge position, the bass response tightens up and you can hear more of that classic Gretsch twang and sparkle. Anyone looking for a Gretsch with a little extra beef will love this serial!
