Guitar specialist, Will shows us the key features of the PRS John Mayer Silver Sky signature guitar. This signature John Mayer guitar has been designed by the man himself in close collaboration with Paul Reed Smith to create a vintage-inspired guitar that features a familiar double cutaway design but retains that unique PRS look and feel.
In this video we get to hear how the guitar sounds when played clean and when played through a distorted amplifier to give you a better idea of how the signature John Mayer PRS sounds within a range of genres.
The design of the PRS John Mayer Silver Sky is based on the 1963 and 1964 double cutaway guitars that both John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith own, but adds certain signature appointments.
You have 3 x 635JM single coil pickups within this guitar, both of which have been designed specifically for this signature model.
These pickups have a higher signal-to-noise ratio than traditional single coils resulting in less hum and noise overall. The vintage-style tremolo bridge has been setup flush to the body for added resonance and the PRS acoustic-style frets which are slightly smaller than regular PRS guitars provide a great playing experience.
A new body design with trademark PRS scoop as well as a reverse headstock, which encourages superior tuning stability, have been meticulously designed by John Mayer, resulting in a striking looking guitar that stands out.
