This heavy-relic heartbreaker has oodles of vintage Jazzmaster tones, but with a distinctly modern twist thanks to the maple fretbord! Some Jazzmasters have more of a woody, warm tone and some are janglier, but this one has the best of both worlds. The neck pickup is warm and full, with lots of resonance in the midrange, and it's incredibly articulate even when you pile on the gain. And boy, did I ever pile on the gain! The neck position is phenomenal for smooth, searing leads and heavy rhythm playing, but it can also do Isley Brothers-style soul thanks to its clarity and woodiness. The bridge pickup is snappy, with tight bass and punchy mids to go with with a lush, responsive high end. I could have a blast playing jangle-y indie stuff and snarling punk all day in the bridge position, but it can also do twangy country quite well! Also, the maple fretboard lends the front end of every note more bite and clarity than a typical Jazzmaster. So, you get both classic Jazzmaster sounds, but with more of a rock and roll edge. Anyone looking to rock out on a Jazzmaster will love this serial!
