This sophisticated Duo Jet is sure to impress everyone at the gig with its looks and sound! The bridge pickup is classic Gretsch: lots of tight bass and mids, with a little quack in the upper-midrange and airy, brilliant trebles. The neck pickup has a surprising amount of booming bass and some woody low-mids, but a good amount of response in the 4-6kHz range keeps everything sounding clean and transparent. The openness of the neck pickup gave me some great clear-but-mellow jazz tones clean, but when I ran it through a riedman Dirty Shirley with the gain on eight, it absolutely ROARED! Same for the bridge pickup, although I was also able to get lots of classic jangly Gretsch rhythm tones and twangy lead sounds, too. This guitar would do equally well in the hands of country gentlemen, rockabilly tough guys, and garage rockers!
