Top5 | Jan 13, 2016
2015 saw the explosion of the mini pedal market, it was almost "go small or go home". Rob and Lee have just done a fun little video with about a million mini pedals. You can watch that first below, or just skip straight to our list of the top five.
1) TC Electronics Mini Pedals
If you want to keep your board small, but not sacrifice tone of features, TC Electronics take the top spot our list. Along with top quality build, analog dry through and true bypass, their unique Toneprint feature allows deep customisation while keeping the footprint small.
2) Mooer Audio
One of original manufacturers to bring mini pedals to the mass market, Mooer could be credited with starting the mini pedal craze. Constantly adding new pedals, they have one to cover just about every scenario.
3) Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini
Some say that the Tube Screamer is the one pedal they would choose if they could only have one, and Ibanez have taken this classic and shrunk it down. Right now there is only one in the line, but rumour is there could be more coming in 2016!
4) Xotic Mini Pedals
The "boutique" of mini pedals, Xotic with their SL Drive, SP Compressor and EP Booster have become such essentials that they're found on pedalboards of all sizes, not just mini boards. Unlike many of the pedals in the list, they even managed to fit a battery in the tiny enclosure!
5) Tone City Pedals
Rounding up the list is a relative newcomer, which took the mini pedal world by storm in 2015. J. Wong, the designer behind many of Chinese pedals, branched out on his own to produce some amazing sounding pedals, at an amazing price.
