Top5 | Nov 22, 2015
There aren't nearly as many 2 in 1 overdrives as standard overdrives, but when we started to look we realised they were all killer. So here is our first bonus Top 10 list. We think all these pedals are great, so the order is really just the order we thought of them!
1) JHS Double Barrel
The JHS sets the tone for dual overdrives, stacking a more transparent overdrive with one that adds more color.
2) Wampler Dual Fusion
In the same vein, the Dual Fusion stack Wampler's Euphoria and Paisley Drive into a single enclosure to amazing effect!
3) Analog Man King of Tone
Perhaps the king of dual overdrives, the King of Tone has achieved almost mythic status and a long waiting list for anyone hoping to own one!
4) Fulltone Fulldrive 2
The "grandaddy" of dual overdrives, the Fulldrive 2 has been a mainstay on pedal boards for almost three decades. Their newer fulldrive 3 adds an independent boost and order switch for even more flexibility.
5) Truetone (Visual Sound) Jekyll and Hyde
Like the Fulldrive 2, the Jekyll and Hyde is one of the classic dual overdrives. Now in its v3 form, it doesn't look like its going anywhere!
6) Empress Multidrive
Packing fuzz, overdrive and distortion in a single enclosure, the empress multidrive can do almost anything!
7) T1m The Pearl
Still hand wired by This 1s Myne, The Pearl has found a home on many P&W pedalboards.
8) TC Electronic Nova Drive
TC Electronic have achieved something truly unique with the Nova Drive. An all analog signal path, but digital control for a dual overdrive with presets! Not only that, but they have both series and parallel modes.
9) Mesa/Boogie Flux Five
The Mesa/Boogie not only has high and low overdrive modes, but the legendary Mesa 5 band EQ, independently assignable to either mode.
10) Tone City Dual Pedals
Rounding out are list is a new comer from the far east. Tone City have made quite a splash with their mini pedals, and are now looking like they'll do the same with their affordable dual pedals.
