Holy guacamole! We are proud to showcase one of the rarest Les Pauls to ever leave Gibson's vaunted Custom Shop. Back in 2003, Gibson did a run of less than 15 Custom Shop Les Pauls with real Brazilian rosewood fretboards, then had legendary guitar wizard Tom Murphy put them through his signature aging process. If you're not familiar with Tom, he's the guy Peter Frampton called to restore his '54 Custom after it was damaged in a plane crash! His obsessive attention to detail helped him build a finished product that still looks like a real '59, and this particular serial sounds like it, too! It has wooly, rich low-end to go with ripping, snarling, raspy midrange and sweet, smoky trebles. In general, I get a seventies British blues vibe from this Les Paul, but it excelled at heavy Sabbathian chugging, clean jazzy chording, power chord punk, and chunky rock riffage. This guitar sounds every bit as good a real vintage Les Paul, and we are proud to showcase it for our exceptional customers.
