With the Artist series, Alvarez have taken all of the knowledge and experience that they’ve gained from manufacturing guitars over the past 50 years or so, and created a range of fantastic acoustics, which easily outperform their reasonably modest price tags, making these guitars an excellent, affordable choice for both beginners and more experienced players alike.
The Artist Delta Delite is actually the smallest guitar that Alvarez produce, featuring a mini blues style body design and a 23 1/2 inch scale length. But despite it’s more compact size, the neck still feels more like a larger guitar thanks to it’s full size 1 3/4” nut, and this makes it the perfect travel guitar for players who don’t get on with the more cramped feeling fingerboards on traditional mini sized acoustics.
In terms of construction, the top is made from solid A+ sitka spruce, supported by Alvarez’s forward shifted bracing system which allows a larger area of the top to resonate more freely, and the back and sides are made from arched mahogany. All of this, combined with the smaller body size, produces a tight, focused tone which is nice and bright, not boxy and dull like some other mini sized acoustics. The Mahogany neck has a semi gloss finish making it feel nice and smooth to play, and the profile has got a slight V feel to it at the lower frets, and this rounds out as you move up the neck. The finger board is made from pau ferro, and this is fitted with 20 frets and a nice decorative abalone inlay at the 12th fret.
As we’ve come to expect from Alvarez, all of the hardware and electronics are all top quality, there’s a real bone nut and saddle to improve string vibration transfer, a set of premium quality die cast tuners up on the headstock and an onboard SYS100 pickup system, with volume and tone controls discreetly hidden inside the sound hole. Not only that, the Delta Delite also comes supplied with a deluxe quality padded gig bag, making it a really versatile travel guitar for gigging musicians as well as an ideal choice for younger players who need a smaller guitar to learn on, that’s easy to transport to and from lessons.
