Lee Turner hails from up north in Australia (Queensland) and produces some top-notch pedals and other guitar-related gear. He's actually a man of many talents but more about that later... The QGS 800 HV PRO does not mess around. It's a strong tip-o-the-hat to a roaring JCM800 and features high-voltage internals that shouldn't be messed with. Sound? The sound of rock. Check it out.
From the website:
*High 280-300 Voltage to the plate for REAL tube tone
*No starved plate design
*No ICs driving the tubes
*No transistors driving the tubes
*No clipping diodes driving the tube
*In fact, NO solid-state elements in the audio path
*Over 300 volts from our SPMS
"...This tube preamp is not like most other pedals. It has GLASS TUBES in it that run at 300+ voltages. High voltages are present. If opened, this will void warranty, so when i say it's a JCM in a box, I actually mean it. It is the preamp stage and tone stack of a full voltage amplifier so it can't be knocked around like most other pedals or just left on, as this will eventually burn out the SMPS. And because of power restrictions on most power supplies it needs its own supply (supplied). The tone from these is very pure."
