The Crazy Tube Circuits Motherload is a tribute to two beloved and highly recorded distortion/fuzz pedals from the 70/80/90s. Rather than just offer the same old clones, Crazy Tube Circuits set about to cover new ground by making the tone stacks of each circuit shareable with one another.
Inside Motherload are two distinct circuits with Volume, Gain and corresponding Tone stacks. The Rat inspired circuit is known for it’s hard clipping and pushed midrange while a reverse taper Filter knob handles high end rolloff for smoothening. The Muff inspired circuit has a thicker tone to start with and famous sustain that goes on for miles. The conventional tone stack on this circuit blends between fixed high and low pass filters. However, the Motherload offers many more variations of Muff thanks to a Voice knob which inserts a variable high-pass filter which can enhance midrange or help dial in super scooped tones.
The real magic happens when the Link EQ is engaged. Now, the Rat and Muff circuits have access to an even wider range of voicings since all 3 EQ controls are adjustable and highly interactive with each other. As a result, the standard frequency curve of each circuit is drastically giving each distortion a whole new starting point and a cornucopia of new tones waiting to be discovered.
