The Korala Polycarbonate concert ukulele is a great cheap and cheerful option for beginners. As opposed to traditional ukes which are made from wood, as it’s name suggests, with the exception of the tuning pegs and bridge, this one’s made entirely from polycarbonate, even down to the frets. This makes the ukulele nice and lightweight, but also really tough and it won’t be affected by humidity changes, so it’s another great option for school kids who, as any mum or dad already knows, will probably end up bashing it about a bit.
The Korala plays really well with the polycarbonate frets having a nice smooth feel to them, it tunes up easily and accurately, and more importantly holds it’s tuning, and as it’s a slightly larger concert sized ukulele, combined with it’s unique construction materials, it offers quite a resonant tone, which to our ears sounds a bit louder and punchier than some other wooden ukuleles of his size. Finally, and this is probably the most important thing for younger players, the Korala is available in loads of different finishes, each with a striking graphic, which is sure to impress your friends and help you stand out from the crowd.
