I put together a pedalboard for a friend of mine with some spare pedals I had laying around my studio. This pedalboard was for guitar in a contemporary church setting. In other words, full rock band instruments. For pedals that would cost about $250 or so on the used market, I put together this pedal board with the essential effects one would need for a full and versatile rig.
Essentially, for electric guitar IMHO you need three pedals. Delay, overdrive, and reverb (and of course a tuner). Then you can add compressor, and another overdrive and another delay to fatten up your sound.
In this video I am using the Boss DD-5 Digital delay, MXR Dyno Comp, Tomsline Vintage Overdrive, Joyo Vintage Overdrive, Tomsline Delay, Donner Verb, and TC Electronics Polytune. Powering it up is a Joyo Power Supply and all of that is housed in my DIY pedalboard playing through the Fender Bassbreaker.
With this rig, I can play ambient guitar to heavy lead guitar.
