This 1955 Hardtail Stratocaster is a stunner.
This was the second year of the Strat, but the first year Fender offered the "hardtail" version, and this thing freaking rules.
Beautiful original sunburst finish. The checking is something to marvel at. Unmatched on any "relic" out there, this guitar oozes mojo.
Neck date is penciled "5-55"
Original pickups, and electronics. Pot codes date 1954 with the original PiO cap and 3-way switch. Just about everything on this guitar is original. Listed below are the repairs, replacements and modifications done along the way.
Refret done in 1990 w/paperwork included.
Nut has been replaced assumingely when the fret job was done.
Original bakelite guard. Neck PUP cover is possibly not original and could have been replaced somewhere along the way. The "Tone" knobs are not original.
The pickups are original but of course have needed to be rewound, and were done so professionally by Dave Johnson here in Nashville, TN.
Ash body, smooth maple neck with a 7.25 radius weighing in at only 6.4 lbs. This is a special Strat for sure.
Original case shows obvious signs of use/wear with the far right latch broken, the other two close and function as they should. Also included will be the original leather strap and the Ashtray cover, as well as an old microphone and coily cable.
This Strat has just gotten off the bench, is freshly setup, has level frets and is prime for the picking.
Not many of these were made in 1955, this is your opportunity to own a piece of Fender history.
