It's appropriate that the finish adorning this Suhr's curly maple top is called Bengal Burst, because it packs some serious bite! While I was testing it, there was one point where I slid up the neck into a little descending double-stop line, and the bridge pickup's blend of sizzling highs and punchy mids made me sound almost like I know what I'm doing on guitar (that went away as soon as I started my next lick, don't worry).
Overall, this guitar has a lush, glassy high end to go with tight bass response and woody, punchy mids.
The aforementioned bridge 'bucker is a delight thanks to its taut bass response, sizzling highs, and biting mids. It's practically perfect for crunchy rhythm playing, but it also proved to be quite inspiring for more aggressive leads.
The middle pickup has plenty of spank and quack in the upper mids and highs, so it will cut through a mix like a laser. It's easy to get lost playing your favorite David Gilmour-isms here!
The neck pickup has muscular but clear bass response to go with broader midrange, and the highs still have plenty of sparkle and chime! It's the sort of hefty-sounding neck pickup that still manages to sound clear, making it perfect for singing solos and thick riffage.
Anyone looking for a Suhr with tone as ferocious as a tiger will love this Bengal Burst beauty!
