First in a series of favorites, things that just seem to make everything better. Bill Frisell's album "Good Dog, Happy Man" from 1999 has long been in my top ten records of all time. Including Viktor Krause on bass, Jim Keltner on drums, Wayne Horvitz on organ and Greg Leisz on pedal steel, it is a lesson in listening and group improvisation. Each tune seems to grow out of the one before it, a continuation of the previous thought. And the band takes its time with each tune, settling in and enjoying listening to each other play.
There is an excellent new documentary on Frisell. Check it out here***:
