By now, you're probably familiar with the benefits of a buffer and how it can help overcome the dulling effects of cable capacitance with long cables and true bypass pedals. But it's not often discussed whether the buffer helps when your pedals are turned on! There's a good chance that the output impedance of your favorite dirt pedal will not be low enough to retain those high frequencies across a long cable run. In my case, it's 50ft from where I shoot video to the amp booth in my garage. Here's a quick example featuring the ThorpyFX FLIR Mini Buffer and a Rat with the Kinnatone Mischief 3x3 Mod (I used the Turbo mode).
