I GOT RHYTHM, PART 4
Eighth-note syncopations
In this lesson, Guitar World's Senior Music Editor, Jimmy Brown, continues his discussion on rhythm fundamentals with eighth-note syncopations. The technique of emphasizing the upbeats, which are traditionally considered the “weak” parts of the beat, as opposed to the “strong” downbeats, is illustrated here with examples from well-known artists including Cream, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Def Leppard.
