Jason Scheff took Peter Cetera's slot as lead singer and bassist in the band Chicago in 1985. He stayed for over 3 decades, making records and touring the world.
Jason's dad Jerry Scheff is a famous session and touring bassist also. Jerry created and recorded all the iconic bass parts on "The Doors" records.
Later, Jerry became Elvis Presley's touring bass player.
Jason came by for a visit and demonstrated the fun and amazing trick of keeping a pedal tone in the top line and changing the root notes, or vice versa, keeping a pedal tone in the root and changing the top line. This approach is definitely in the DNA of some of my all time favorite songs!
