Gibson’s brand new acoustic design, the Generation Collection, has arrived and impressed us with its dynamic, musical usability & appealing price point. But, what exactly is going on under the hood? Join Jack as he walks through the features of this new set of Gibson’s world-beating, everyman acoustics - still made in Montana, USA!
With 4 models to choose from, Gibson are calling on the design language of their heritage, while incorporating many features demanded by the modern, performing player. The G-45, based on their iconic slope-shoulder design, is the most well-rounded style of the range, but the introduction of another Gibson staple, the 00, offers players a more comfortable & compact experience, for fingerstyle and delicate chord work. Completing the range are two equally symbolic body styles, the Songwriter and the J-200, affording players extended flexibility; with increased access to the upper frets via a stylish cutaway, premium LR Baggs electronics, extended scale length for increased tension and articulation & refined bar fret markers.
This marks a radical departure for Gibson - with their status as legendary builders of acoustic instruments well-established, have they just managed to conquer new ground? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
