Continuing on with our new series, A Tale of Two Tones, we thought we couldn't go wrong with shining some light on one of the kings of guitar gear, Billy F. Gibbons! With a career spanning since the 60's there is a huge range to Billy Gibbons sound throughout the years, which gives us a great opportunity to choose some fantastic gear to recreate some tones that Billy Gibbons has been synonymous with.
For an early Billy Gibbons style rig we went with a Gibson Custom 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Standard and a Dr Z Z-28. For a more recent rig we put the Fender Custom Shop Ltd Ed Double Esquire Custom into the Magnatone Super Fifty Nine M-80 Head. We loved the tones that you can get from both of these rigs!
Let us know in the comments below which rig was your favourite, and if you have any other players you would like us to cover in this new series A Tale of Two Tones comment those below too!
