Back in 1955, Texas guitar player Howard Reed Jr. placed an order for a Stratocaster, he had a special request though, it had to be black instead of the standard 2-Tone Sunburst. This might not sound like a big deal but he inadvertently made history, resulting in one of the earliest known Black Strats and kicking off the custom colour tradition that still continues today.
This black Strat became the stuff of legend, being Reed's guitar of choice during his time with famous rockabilly group Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps. Masterbuilder Dennis Galuszka was tasked with the job of recreating this iconic guitar, and he has certainly delivered, the Fender Custom Shop Private Collection H.A.R. Stratocaster is something pretty special!
