Mick and Dan are both on Covid-19 lockdown, so what better opportunity to get into some writing and recording at home? Here I’m writing a track and putting down bass and drums…
Life too short for long YouTube videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.
Welcome to my vlog! Please let me be clear – this is not for experienced recording people! It's pitched at those of us who don't know much and are a little bit scared of the tech. That out of the way…
I’ve been inspired by Dan’s proactive approach to writing and recording just lately, and I’m seeing the good it’s doing him creatively and well, just in general!
Probably like everybody, I keep telling myself I’m going to do some writing and recording – after all, why else do we play this ol’ thing in the first place?
The cloud is definitely Covid-19 lockdown and whether this project is a silver lining remains to be seen. Ha! My motivation is twofold: firstly to do something creative and get my musician’s head into a different space for a minute; secondly to hopefully pass on some of the inspiration I’ve gleaned from Dan, Rabea Massaad and I have to say Joey Landreth in recent months to prove that anybody can have fun making music at home. We just have to do it! For better or worse.
Enjoy the episode!
My recording setup basics… (you don’t need all this stuff, but I’ll get asked so here it is!)
