Here is the GT-1000 review I recently completed. This GT 1000 unit was difficult to set up with any amp or recording desk I had. I eagerly awaited the GT-1000 effects unit as I have been a long time user of Roland Boss equipment and always found it with few exceptions to be nigh on perfect - like the VG-99 for example.
What I expected was a really well made unit that had 'great' tones in there and would be simple to use. Indeed most of it was like that and the editor etc. reflected what other Roland Boss gear I have reviewed had. But somehow this unit and its 'matching' to an amp so I could get great sounds never really happened for me. Sure everything else was very good as I show inside the unit - the quality is great.
For me, the clean tones were exceptional (as they have been on almost all Roland Boss gear I have reviewed), but the distortions were not really for me. Sure I can get great tones by using the unit direct to my recording studio desk (as I surmise most 'sales' videos did show, but that's not really the real world for everyone else - ordinary users like we are is it?
In fact I just ended up recording this unit direct to camera as it was not particularly inspiring to me. But watch the video and check yourself because you might love the tones. Maybe all those tube amps have made my standards of a rock tone a little higher.
