Sam takes a look at our most affordable practice amp, the Eastcoast G10R. Check it out here: https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/eastcoast-ec-g10r-guitar-amp
So, you’ve bought your first electric guitar and the next thing you’re gonna need is an amplifier, and that’s where the Eastcoast EC-G10R comes in, as it’s a super affordable, easy to use, lightweight practice amp.
Featuring a simple, compact and lightweight design, the G10R is easy to carry around and won’t take up too much space in a bedroom, but as it kicks out 10 watts through it’s 6.5” speaker, it’s easily loud enough for home practicing or to annoy your parents or neighbours. Luckily for mum, dad and the neighbours though, there is also a headphone socket for quiet practicing, and rather unusually for an amp of this size, there’s also an extension speaker output, so it can be hooked up to an extra speaker cabinet to create a bigger, fuller sound.
In terms of controls, as I mentioned the G10R is really easy to use, there’s a gain knob, with tones ranging from crisp and clean before becoming more crunchy and overdriven as you turn it up, a boost button switches the amp into full on distortion mode, great for rock and metal riffs and for lead solos, a tone control contours the sound from boomy and bassy to biting and trebly, and then there’s a master volume.
Finally, there’s a reverb control, which I will admit doesn’t exactly sound like a conventional reverb effect, it’s more like a cross between a vintage echo and a spring reverb. But as you’d expect, it does help to add an extra layer of depth to the sound, and whilst having a pretty unique reverb characteristic, it’s still a very usable effect.
So if you are looking for an amplifier to accompany your first electric guitar, it’s definitely worth checking out the Eastcoast G10R, it’s gonna sound a hell of a lot better than those cheap battery powered amps that a lot of beginners tend to buy, and it offers a much more versatile range of tones, so go and try one out at your local Professional Music Technology…
