Every Peavey Vypyr model comes loaded with a 266MHz Dual Core SHARC processor that provides more processing power than any other modeling amp that is currently available. For the user this means a more realistic emulation sound with greater detail, plus the ability to handle more effects (up to five effects simultaneously) and greater parameter control.
When the amp is turned on there's an impressive lights show whilst the software is loading, however once your guitar is connected the LEDs switch to operation mode which simplifies matters immediately. The rotary control knobs are multifunctional, and the various functions are clearly labeled, so its a fairly intuitive lay-out and means you can get started without having to consistently refer to the manual.
The LED's let you know at a glance which amps, effects, and stompboxes are activated, and across the amp models, a green light indicates a clean channel, whilst red indicates a distortion channel. So how does it sound ... ? Well pretty darned good actually, I have to admit at being impressed by the TransTube technology used which accurately captures the analogue distortion that you'd expect from a valve amp.
