I could fiddle with the mini-toggles and dial in tones with this PRS 408 all day long! Both humbuckers are a ton of fun in normal mode, though. The bridge 'bucker has some PAF-esque snarl in the midrange, and its basses and trebles are both quite expansive and three-dimensional. The neck pickup has focused, throaty midrange along with rich but well-mannered bass response and sweet, singing trebles. When you tap the bridge pickup, you get this lovely bell-like chime in the high end and a very detailed, percussive attack; essentially, it sounds like a particularly rich P-90. In single-coil mode, the neck pickup sounds quite smooth, round, and warm. In fact, it sounds like a really rich, lively Tele neck pickup. With the switching combinations these two pickups give you in the middle position, you can cop just about any tone under the sun. Anyone seeking a beautiful, versatile PRS will love this fly 408!
