I live in Cypress Texas, which is the northwest side of Houston. Most people do not realize how large Houston really is. To put in in perspective, the third loop highway is 170 miles round, it's about the size of the state of Delaware and 7 million people live in that area. It's big!
Hurricane Harvey dropped 49.3 inches of rain in less than four days in my area. Our average yearly rainfall is 50 inches. So basically we had a years worth of rain in a few days. Needless to say the entire city was flooded. There is not a single area that did not experience flooding. Rich and poor neighborhoods alike.
It is amazing how Texans are. We jumped in the water with boats to rescue people and the relief efforts are amazing. Just about every church in the city is helping rebuild.
In this video I show what the first three days after the major rain looked like and the relief efforts that are already happening.
