When you're one-third of the greatest three-headed guitar dragon in modern music like Chris Shiflett, you need a serious guitar to stand out. As a member of the Foo Fighters, Chris Shiflett has seen a million faces and rocked them all over the course of countless sold-out arena shows. Throughout his travels, his Custom Shop Fender Telecaster Deluxe--nicknamed "The Cleaver" for its ability to cut through the Foo's dense mix--has been a steadfast companion. Now, Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilder Greg Fessler has crafted limited run of Teles just like Chris's tour-tested number one, and we were privileged enough to receive one.
First things first: the Shiflett Tele is an absolute sonic juggernaut. Two Lindy Fralin P-90s deliver some truly spectacular stadium-worthy sounds. In the bridge position, you'll find punchy, woody midrange along with warm, well-mannered lows and and sweet, chiming highs. By contrast, the neck position has throaty, broad midrange with meaty highs and warm lows with just the right amount of depth. Through a clean amp, this guitar has just the right blend of warmth and chime. Through a distorted amp, it provides the perfect combination of sparkle and punch.
Though the Chris Shiflett Tele Deluxe may be a sonic heavyweight, it's built for speed and comfort. It has a '60 Oval C-shaped neck profile with a 12" radius and medium jumbo frets. The slim neck plays lightning fast, and the flatter radius allows for low setups and easy bending (the bigger frets help in that regard, too). And, the alder body has a tummy cut to maximize comfort.
We're proud to showcase such an amazing instrument for our exceptional customers, and we invite you to take it for a spin and experience the magic of its stadium-sized sound.
