I wrote this song after hearing something on the radio turned down very low. I'm not even sure what song I was hearing. It's about all the ways a person can get lost -- addiction, involuntary single parenthood, mindless violence (the last verse very obliquely references the Iraq war), with a touch of old orphan ballads tossed in for good measure. Still one of my favorites to play and sing.
