Henrik Nordvang Nielsen from Copenhagen is a very committed man. He has channeled all he’s learned from his own studies and lengthy time as Elektronikfagtekniker lærling at Bang & Olufsen into some seriously wonderful overdrives which he builds in limited quantities under the Nordvang Custom banner. Currently there are three on offer: ’83 Drive, Gravity (this video) and Wingman - all with unabashed roots in three classics: Klon, TS10 and Black Box Bluesbreaker. Henrik is a big John Mayer fan and has an equal lust for tone perfection just like his hero. I cannot play like John Mayer but I know premium quality when I feel, see and hear it and Nordvang is at the very top of that category. In fact, Henrik’s overdrives make it to my extremely short list of ‘never, ever to sell’. They are a pleasure to use, beautiful to look at and sublime to play and hear. Highly functional art. Can you tell I’m a little bit besotted? I reckon you will be too when you try one. So, rather than fill this video and the others I’ve made for the Gravity with chat and explanations, I’ve chosen to just play. I’ve appropriated a cool backing track from Jamtrackcentral.com called “Just For You” and made three videos with a ’67 Bandmaster base (thank you, Axe-FX III) and let rip. This is the Strat version.
