I really like the ENGL Alpha Drive. For starters it's built to what I could only describe as military spec. By Engl. A German company that is famous for its no-compromise amp builds. The Alpha Drive takes the classic TS style, does away with the accented mid-range hump and replaces it with very finely voiced bass and treble controls. At minimum settings the Gain control becomes a 'transparent' boost depending on where those tones are set. So you can run it to a 'blackface' style Fender or use it like a TS to a Marshall already breaking up. Very versatile and no crappy spots on any of the dials. The Alpha Drive, in short, is a winner.
