Robbie Hall's take on one of the most coveted amps in the world. We know that they were all built to order and with the player's style in mind, but there are common qualities that define them as well. Chirp, midrange, smooth distortion and compression... all sorts of wonderful traits and flavours that help shape the tone. The Ethos Overdrive is one of the greatest pedal-form manifestations of these amps available today. Many say it's the best. It has been highly regarded for at least 15 years with small but detailed improvements to its build over time. You can use it as comprehensively appointed overdrive pedal into the front or effects loop of a regular amp, or as a direct injection device as I'm doing here. It's 100% analog and sounds amazing.
My first encounter with this wonderful pedal was way back in 2008. Robbie has kindly asked me to revisit it and I am very honoured to do so. I will be presenting some new gear from Custom Tones LLC in the near future.
