If you’ve not heard of them before, Cole Clark is an Australian brand that we’ve just taken on here at PMT, but they’ve been producing some really interesting, high quality acoustics since 2001. These really are unique guitars, both visually and tonally. They’re made from all solid sustainable tonewoods, most of which are native to Australia such as Bunya, Queensland Maple and Australian blackwood, and they also utilise some pretty specialised construction methods including a Spanish heel or, integral neck joint.
Whereas on most acoustics, the body is made first, then the neck is attached afterwards with either a bolt or dovetail joint, on these guitars, the neck is actually part of the body, glued to the top, along with the sides and the back, so you get one piece all the way to the sound hole, resulting in a really vibrant feeling guitar.
They also feature internally carved tops and backs and, instead of more conventional kerfling, they use a ridge system to join the sides to the top and back, and this all adds up to create really strong, lightweight acoustics which deliver pretty unique but very harmonically rich tones, with tons of resonance and power.
Cole Clark Fat Lady 1 FL1 Features...
- Excellent, reasonably-priced acoustic guitar made from responsibly-sourced materials
- Solid Bunya top, with a Queensland Maple back and sides
- Super-smooth Maple neck, capped with a She Oak fingerboard
- Grover Rotomatic tuning machines
- Inlaid timber rosette
- Spanish Heel construction
- Includes deluxe padded gig bag
As mentioned above, this awesome guitar has been crafted with a Queensland Maple back and sides, along with a Solid Bunya top piece.
With the Queensland Maple used on the body we have a responsibly-sourced native Australian timber, which is tonally neutral-sounding - similar to South American Mahogany, but with a little extra snap.
Sitting atop this body is a piece of Bunya - another native Australian timber, that's responsible for more than half of Cole Clark's sales - which is ideal for hard-strummers and percussive players, and delivers that signature Cole Clark sound.
