Roland Sessions is a live music performance series. This episode features Lara Somogyi performing "Hard Hat”.
Lara Somogyi is a Los Angeles based harpist and solo artist. Using loop and pedal fx technology from Roland/Boss, she developed a unique sound on the harp that is inspiring a movement. Her exploration of harp and technology began in 2013 with a successful Kickstarter campaign, which thanks to the generous support of her backers and Camac harps, enabled the production of an ongoing online music video album which has received over half a million views. This was followed by a pairing with loop & pedal fx companies such as Roland/Boss to help her further create new sounds and forge a new artistic identity for the harp.
A graduate from the Royal Academy of Music in London, she is also an active session and recording harpist - working in a wide range of genres for Film and TV, from studio sessions with the London Symphony Orchestra, to recordings for neo-classical labels such as Erased Tapes. Through her work with pop artists such as Guy Chambers and Rufus Wainwright, she developed a passion for modern recording and production which sparked an interest in the creative possibilities of the electroacoustic harp. As an active live artist, Lara is called upon for her unique combination of electroacoustic harp and fx pedals, recently performing live with artists such as Anderson .Paak, T.I., and Busta Rhymes.
Lara is currently writing and recording her debut album of original music, including "Hard Hat" and "Self Seed," soon available on spotify and iTunes.
