Song #2 in my goal of recording more looping based original material. I didn't want to wait too long before I started exploring the heavier side of the rock spectrum with looping. I think looping naturally tends to lend itself to alt rock, jam rock or ambient, but how could I craft something that doesn't wait too long to build up into an all out heavy riff? I found that using the Bass9 pedal in parallel with the guitar amp helps a lot with that. As long as you have that parallel guitar and bass groove, I think you can get it done pretty quickly.
The name of the song is just something I thought of from my old Command & Conquer video game days. Get that Saboteur out early to be in place to cripple your opponents infrastructure at the earliest possible time, and then be held in reserve to deliver the finishing blows, was a vital part of my strategy. There's also a little bit of that "repel down the rock, behind the lines" harmonic minor going on in the song too, if you know what I mean. #OneManBand #LiveLooping
