Cordoba have a reputation for making some really high quality ukes that feel and sound great but still remain reasonably affordable, and there’s a huge range to choose from. For this video we’ve chosen to take a look at one particular series in their range, the All Mahogany ukuleles. These are available in sizes including Soprano, Tenor and concert, which is the one we’re looking at here, and unlike a lot of ukes that utilise cheaper laminate or layered wood construction methods, these beautiful instruments are made from solid mahogany, given them a lovely rich, warm tone. That mahogany is finished in a very light satin polyurethane to allow the wood to breath, which this in turn means that the neck also has a really smooth feel to it.
The quality of construction extends to the hardware, where you’ll find a set of nickel tuners with pearl buttons up on the headstock, and there’s also a few stylish cosmetic touches such as subtle pearloid fretboard markers and a maple and ebony herringbone pattern around the soundhole and on the bridge. All of this adds up to a great looking range of ukuleles, which sound fantastic and are joy to play.
