The Alien Echo does the analog echo with tape degradation/modulation better than most. You can turn off the 'warble' if you wish but when it's on it will surprise you with all sorts of cool unpredictability as it did to me while I filming this video.
The delay itself has a range from 0-600ms and you can tame the top end with its Tone control. Self oscillation? Yes.
The real fun starts when you dive into the Warble world. I've touched on it here but you really need to check it out yourself.
Above and beyond all of this, the Alien Echo is built for the road as are all Rockett pedals (far more roadworthy than many or most other brands) and it just sounds great. Can't ask for more than that.
The guitar is a Smitty Custom Guitars 'Bluey' built by my friend and No.1 luthier, Eric Smid. You can see more of Eric's stuff at http://smittyguitars.com.
The amp is a Laney L50H head and L412 cabinet. I am a very proud Laney International endorser(ee?) and you'll be hearing a lot more from this amp. See http://www.laney.co.uk/show_prod.php?prod=l50h for more info on the L50H.
