The new EHX Ripped Speaker is a raw, vintage sounding fuzz offering a completely untame, gritty tone , paying homage to the early distorted sound of an overdriven amplifier with a torn speaker.
For a pedal with such gnarly bite, you'd be surprised to find how versatile it can be thanks to the array of controls that can be easily tweaked. The RIP knob allows you to set the amount of clipping at the top and bottom of the sound, letting you control the prominence of the fuzz in your tone. So you can go from subtle hints to roaring fat fuzz in no time. Not only that but the Tone knob delivers an active tilt-shift type EQ, so as you turn the control counter-clockwise you're welcomed to a darkened frequency response.
A very unique pedal, the Ripped Speaker has quickly become one of our favourite distortion effects, and is definitely one of the best fuzz pedals you can get if you're looking for authentic vintage tones, as well as allowing you to get weird and glitchy with it's velcro fuzz style settings.
