The Hotone Xtomp is a compact modelling pedal. It offers a growing range of different pedal sounds by choosing from a library in a free iOS and Android app. Basically: You pick a pedal you like and send it via bluetooth to your Xtomp. The sounds range from models of famous pedals like a Fulltone OCD V3, an Ibanez TS9, TS808 or Hermida Zendrive, but also original Hotone sounds like delays, EQs or modulation effects.
It is important to state that this is technically not a multi effects unit. With the exception of some dual pedalsounds prepared by Hotone, you can only load one sound at the time on this pedal and you always need the app to switch. The controls then light up to show you which knobs are used on that specific modell, and the sound is loaded, ready to play.
Watch the video to hear my opinion of this solution and possible problems I see.
What do you think? Have you ever been in the situation where you would have needed a "chamelon" on your pedalboard, that could have given you a sound while writing a song or practicing, just by dialing it up on your phone?
