Sure enough, there are plenty of great arguments for Fender’s single-coil pickup designs, as well as Gibson’s innovative humbuckers, but many would argue that the humble P-90 is the greatest pickup design of them all! We’d certainly be inclined to agree...
In today’s video, we grabbed a bunch of stellar guitars from our shop Saloon and put them through their paces. The common theme? They all come loaded with some form of P-90 style pickup. Somewhere between the single coil twang and the humbucking heft, the P-90 leaves very few tonal stones unturned with its ability to produce all manner of dynamics, fuelling some of the most legendary recorded guitar tones of all time!
